Opera prima di Vittorio Gazzera, REWIND si colloca nel filone del neo noir cinematografico, introducendo la tematica tanto cara al regista del rapporto conflittuale tra realà e non-realtà. Il "viaggio a ritroso" dell'assassino è raccontato montando il film al contrario, dall'ultima inquadratura alla prima, con l'intento di creare un "doppio filmico": la vicenda che vediamo sullo schermo e quella che intuiamo soltanto, non potendola vedere montata correttamente. Le due storie così create sono in realtà la stessa storia, che però assume un significato completamente diverso a seconda del punto di vista.
Scritto a quattro mani con Niccolò Boscolo, REWIND segna l'inizio del sodalizio professionale tra Vittorio Gazzera e Christian La Rosa, che da quel momento lavoreranno insieme in molte altre produzioni, anche non strettamente cinematografiche.
Girato in quattro giorni e post-prodotto in due mesi, il film è stato completamente autofinanziato, spendendo una somma complessiva di circa 400 € (soprattutto per l'acquisto di una pistola di scena). La fotografia (firmata da Giuseppe Amorisco) e la colonna sonora (scritta e realizzata dallo stesso Vittorio Gazzera, sotto lo pseudonimo di Plastic People) rimandano a un cinema sperimentale dalle atmosfere rarefatte, in cui sono le immagini, prima ancora della narrazione verbale, a rivestire un'importanza fondamentale nell'economia narrativa del film (non a caso, la pellicola è volutamente muta).
Vittorio Gazzera's debut, REWIND
is placed in the vein of neo noir film, introducing the theme so dear to
the director of the adversarial relationship between reality and
non-reality. The murderer's "journey back" is told by mounting the film
on the contrary, the last frame to the first, with the intention of
creating a "double film": the story we see on screen and what we only
sense, not being able to see attached correctly. The two stories thus
created are actually the same story, but it takes on a completely
different meaning depending on the point of view.
Co-written
with Niccolò Boscolo, REWIND marks the beginning of the professional
relationship between Vittorio Gazzera and Christian La Rosa, who by that
time working together in many other productions, also not strictly
film.
Shot in four days and post-produced in two months, the film was entirely self-financed, spending a total of approximately € 400 (especially for the purchase of a gun of the scene). The photography (signed by Giuseppe Amorisco) and the soundtrack (written and produced by the same Vittorio Gazzera, under the pseudonym of Plastic People) refer to an experimental film by the rarefied atmospheres, where are the pictures, even before the verbal narration, to key importance in the narrative economy of the film (not surprisingly, the film is deliberately silent).
